Grotesquerie Saddle-Stitched Zine
Introducing Grotesquerie- a collection of our body of work from a residency this past summer at the Stephen Pace house in Stonington, Maine that we’ve curated into a 26 page staple-bound zine.
We spent the first week of June exploring all the island had to offer, and documenting it along the way through the lens of two women who felt like they were being sent to the seaside to recover. We explored the land and beaches nearby, collected natural specimens to infuse into our work through cyanotype printing, and photographed with instant film to capture this moment in time and share it with you.
This zine features a sequence of our collaborative work from our time at the Pace house, and documents the experience of a descent into madness or enlightenment. It features words from Sylvia Plath, Margaret Atwood, and Ursula LeGuin, illustrations and design work from Abbie Cates , and photography from Tabitha Barnard
Grotesquerie will be available online beginning December 1, and at local markets December 7.
We are so appreciative to @mecaart for allowing us time and space to create this work and collaborate together. We cannot wait to share it.
